What do I need to paint the alloy wheels? What are the steps?...or at least just powder coat them...?

I have four wheels from a Neon SRT-4, they are pretty scratched and not looking good. What do i need to do to restore them, at least to the same gray color.

Also i would like to maybe paint them in black or gun metal color... if you could please share you're knowledge with me please...

any help is very much appreciated...What do I need to paint the alloy wheels? What are the steps?...or at least just powder coat them...?
They're alloy, so if you have deep scratches, then you are out of luck. At that point, you might as well have them powder coated. If the scratches aren't bad, then you can buff them out just like you would a scratch in your paint. Use very fine sandpaper, along with some wet sandpaper, some buffing compound and at the end go and have some clear coat put on them to help seal them back up, and you will be good to go.What do I need to paint the alloy wheels? Your not supposed to paint aluminum alloy wheels. You paint stainless steel or plain steel wheels because they rust. Alloy wheels are sold brand new with a layer of clear coat on them to keep them lustrous. I would recommend taking the rims to a body shop and ask them for their professional recommendations.
Your best best is to powdercoat them. Paint will eventually chip off. Duplicolor was ';brake caliper paint'; that might be OK, but you definately need an epoxy based paint.
steel wool and a good cleaner would probably do the job, but an etching liquid would clean them much better for a good prep job.
