old paintings on waterproof papers was coated with dipping of iodine/ tincture iodine or any other solutions to maintain its quality for long period. now we want to remove that coating. As per our information it is washed %26amp; cleaned in a water after adding some quantity of white powder in plain / hot water. as per your knowledge you please advise us the name of that white watersoluble powder.I hv costly paintings whch is coated wth iodine solution. whch white water soluble powder may help me clear it?

just a guess, can be common salt, Na+Cl- , its white , water soluble, , can form Na+I- n wash it away. but plz dont ruin ur painting on my guess :)
