What are powder coated rims?

do they last longer than painted? price difference? What are powder coated rims?
Powder coating is just another way of painting rims. The rim is electostatically charged and the positively charged powdered paint is applied. This assures that the paint gets applied even to hidden areas uniformly. Then the rim is put into an 'oven' and the paint bakes to the metal. The resulting finish is very smooth and durable.

The cost is a bit more expensive that regular paint but it lasts longer because the paint is harder and adheres to the metal much better. What are powder coated rims?
Powder coating is a process whereby coloring is electrically plated onto the rims. It generally generates a harder and tougher to scratch surface. It's much more expensive than simply painting.
